ME-WHO WE ARE
With the intention of encouraging, stimulating and aiming to expand the dance market, PORTUGAL DANCE COMPETITION opens the doors to students and professionals who have the purpose of recycling and exchanging their experiences within the dance universe, artistically inspired in the search for professionalism that involves art; These include competition, masterclasses, dance lectures.
II-DATE OF THE EVENT – FORMAT
The PORTUGAL DANCE COMPETITION will take place on the 6th, 7th and 8th of June 2025 in the city of Pombal, at Teatro-Cine de Pombal – PO
1-PORTUGAL DANCE COMPETITION is a Competitive Festival where participants receive trophies, medals and certificates of participation
1A-In this dance competition with various styles and modalities there will also be Masterclasses, Photo Exhibition, Lectures, conversations with Teachers and international Judges.

IV- PRESELECTION
Participation in the Soloist category has limited registration, so candidates are subject to pre-selection.
It can be sent until March 28, 2025.
A FORM must be filled out for each video choreography. There will be a fee of R$10 per choreography for video analysis. To upload the video(s) on the website www.portugaldancecompetition.com or send a link.

Admitted candidates will be announced via the website www.portugaldancecompetition.com until April 7th and must then formalize their registration by April 13th, 2025. Groups that do not confirm their presence by this date will lose their right to the place .
IV 1 - VIDEO REQUIREMENTS:
a) Each video file must contain only 01 choreography (Solo);
b) The file name must be the candidate’s full name, followed by the word Classic or Contemporary;
c) The file size must not be greater than 100MB.
d) The recording must ensure good image quality (stability, luminosity, definition, proportionality) in order to allow the correct assessment of competitors (physical characteristics, body expression).
IV 2- REGISTRATION
The registration deadline for those approved will be April 13, 2025. If the number of registrations reaches the limit capacity for the event, the organization reserves the right to close registrations before that date.
The Director/Choreographer must send the registration form duly completed with the choreography data, including 01 complete form and the attached recording for each work to be presented.
A-Copy of each participant's CPF or passport must be presented at the accreditation check-in on the day of the competition to deliver the bracelets to the participants,
this must be preserved to give the right to enter the dressing rooms, the audience after the presentation and the awards (if there is a loss, the amount of R$50 will be charged for each new credential acquisition)
B-Copy of proof of payment for registered choreographies
C-ALL PARTICIPATING GROUPS AND/OR SCHOOLS MUST PRESENT THE WORKS REGISTERED IN THE OPEN EXHIBITION IN THE SQUARE on the 6th and 7th at 9:30pm.

ATTENTION: Registration reservations will not be accepted. Schools and groups will only be considered registered after receiving complete registration forms and proof of payment for choreographies sent by email.
IV-3 FEES AND MAXIMUM TIME ALLOWED
*Solo and Repertoire Variation (male and female) R$ 40 (forty reais) per choreography – up to 03 minutes
*Duet and Pas de Deux R$ 38 (thirty-eight reais) for the couple per choreography – up to 03 minutes
*Grand Pas de Deux of Repertory R$ 50 (fifty reais) per couple per choreography – time of the work
*Small group (from 03 to 06) R$ 20 (twenty reais) per participant per choreography – up to 04 minutes
*Large group (from 6 to 25) €15 (fifteen reais) per participant per choreography – up to 5 minutes
*Choreographies that exceed the allowed time limit will be automatically disqualified without the right to a refund of the amounts paid.
*01 Coordinator R$ 15 (fifteen reais) / 01 Assistant R$ 15 (fifteen reais) per group or school
*Director is exempt from the registration fee
V- CATEGORIES/SCALES
The participant's age on January 1, 2025 is considered.
A- Children – 09 to 11 years old – All Modalities
B- Junior – 12 to 14 years old – All Modalities
C- Senior – 15 to 17 years old – All Modalities
D- Adult – 18 to 23 years old – All Modalities
E - MIXED - 24 to 39 years old - Ensemble only
E- Best Age 40+ - Ensemble only
VI – STYLES FOR CHILDREN-JUNIOR-SENIOR-ADULT CATEGORIES
A – Classical Repertory Ballet (Choreographies from the traditional Classical repertoire respecting the original version) Character Dance Choreographies that are part of the Repertory Ballets, must be entered in the Classical Repertory Ballet genre and NOT in Popular Dances.
*Male/Female Variation, Paddles de Deux, Grand Paddles de Deux and Set
B - Classical and Neo-Classical Ballet (Free classical and neo-classical choreographies created using ballet steps with an authorial choreographic composition. The use of pointe is optional)
* Male/Female Solo, Duo and Ensemble
C – Modern Dance/Contemporary Dance (Works of an authorial nature that show research, creation of movements following or not the lines of the School of Modern/Contemporary Dance) * Male/Female Solo, Duet and Ensemble
D – Jazz Dance (works that use the lines of Jazz Dance – Modern Jazz, Street Jazz, Musical Jazz, Contemporary Jazz...)
* Male/Female Solo, Duet and Ensemble
E – Urban Dances - Hip Hop (works from the areas of Hip Hop, Funk, Commercial Dancehall, Street...)

VI – 1 Changing the list after registration will only be permitted for the ensemble category
VII - COMPETITION SCHEDULE
Day 06 / ALL SESSIONS = Classical Ballet, Classical Ballet Repertory, Neo-Classical Ballet
Day 07 / ALL SESSIONS = Modern Dance, Contemporary Dance, Jazz Dance
Day 08 / 1st Session = Tap, Urban Dances, Popular / Folk Dances
VIII – EVALUATION, CLASSIFICATION AND AWARDS
A – The choreographies registered to participate in the competition will be analyzed by a judging panel made up of renowned, internationally renowned professionals. The grades awarded are from 5.0 to 10.0

VIII 1 – CLASSIFICATION
A – First Place – Highest average above 9.0 (nine)
B – Second Place – Average immediately lower than first place, and or above 8.0 to 8.9 (eight to eight point nine)
C – Third Place – Average immediately lower than second place, and or above 7.0 to 7.9 (seven to seven point nine)
*The decision to award or not any of the prizes is the sole responsibility of the jury and cannot be appealed or contested.
VIII 2 – AWARDS
A – Variation, Solos and Duets (Pás de Deux and Grand Pás de Deux) classified in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place receive Medals and certificate of participation
B – Small and Large Groups placed in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place receive trophies and certificate of participation
C – All special awards (Scholarships, Summers, Vacancies for other Competitions, cash prizes, etc. will be decided by the group of judges and announced at the Awards Gala on 06/08/2025)
*Cash prize for Best Dancer, Best Dancer and Best Group
*Summer scholarships in Brazil, Italy, England, United States and Portugal
*Vacancies for partner events in the United States, Berlin and Italy
*Nominations for extra and special awards occur immediately after the end of the presentations
IX – CANCELLATION OR WITHDRAWAL
A – In the event of cancellation or withdrawal, the amounts paid will not be refunded under any circumstances
B – The Choreographer/Director must send a group cancellation letter by email by May 1, 2025
X – SOUND AND LIGHT TECHNICAL INFORMATION
A – The light will be unique and general for all Classical Ballet, Classical Ballet Repertoire, Solos and Duets.
C – Songs must be sent by April 30th at the latest, in MP3 format and, for the safety of the group on the day of the performance, be on PENDRIVE in case any problems arise.
XI – STAGE RECOGNITION
A – The stage reconnaissance will be done on the day of the presentation at the times stipulated by the production, which will be sent 05 days before the competition to the organization of the group. Failure to show up at the stipulated time will result in the group losing the right to rehearsal. The lighting technician will be in the booth available to the groups during the stage recognition for the ensembles.
XII – GENERAL PROVISIONS
A – All participants must maintain silence in the wings and dressing rooms during presentations by other groups (the group/director may be punished)
B – It is prohibited to wear costumes outside the performance venue, under penalty of elimination
C – Performances with birds or any live animal, fire, plants and objects that could dirty the stage or reach the audience will not be permitted. The presentation of nudes is prohibited, under penalty of elimination from the group or participant
D – Performances with live musical groups will not be permitted
E – Small scenic material must be placed and removed by the group themselves and they will have 20 seconds to place and remove the mobile scenery
F – There will be no driver, so poles cannot be used for props/scenarios
G – Each group must arrive one hour before their presentation
H – Each group must have a coordinator to organize the use of the dressing rooms, which will be collective and must be vacated after their presentation.
I – The order of entry into the dressing rooms will follow the order of entry on stage
J – The organizing committee and the team are not responsible for forgotten or lost valuables on the premises of the theater/dressing room or for medical problems that may occur to participants during the event
K – The use of a mandatory, non-transferable identification bracelet throughout the event for dancers, directors, choreographers and coordinators. If there is space in the audience, it will be released to participants after their presentation.
I – All photographs, filming or audiovisual recordings of choreography executions as well as all presentations made by the competitor, regardless of the means or support used to make these recordings, are the exclusive property of Portugal Dance Competition. No visual or audiovisual recording of competitors' choreographies or demonstrations may be made without written authorization from Portugal Dance Competition. Competitors waive all rights relating to the recordings described above and made by Portugal Dance Competition or by third parties on behalf of Portugal Dance Competition, as well as their reproduction, diffusion, distribution, retransmission and projection by all means, including broadcasting via the internet. Competitors accept and acknowledge that these recordings may be used for commercial or advertising purposes, including advertising in favor of third parties, regardless of the products or services to which the advertising relates. Contestants accept in particular that the sponsors of the Portugal Dance Competition who finance the prizes awarded to the finalists may use all or part of these recordings in their advertising campaigns. Competitors assign the rights described in this article to Portugal Dance Competition definitively and irrevocably, without any time or place limit and waive all claims, payments, remuneration, reimbursement of fees or other compensation of any nature. The capture of images (photography and video) of the Portugal Dance Competition is not permitted. Only people officially accredited by the Portugal Dance Competition are authorized to film or photograph. Cameras, cell phones and other filming devices will be confiscated if used without authorization (returned at the end of the competition).
M – When registering, it is understood that children under 16 are authorized by their guardians or the director of the group or school to participate in the event. All candidates must have personal accident insurance. Portugal Dance Competition is not responsible for accidents suffered during the event by candidates in the auditorium, stage, classrooms, dressing rooms, backstage and due to illness or theft.
Candidates must insure themselves against accidents, illnesses and theft. All travel, accommodation and food expenses are the responsibility of the candidates.
If interested, the organization can provide schools and families with all available tourist information and agreements, as well as hotels and accommodations close to the event location.
N – NO PHOTOS OR FILMING WILL BE ALLOWED, THE EVENT WILL BE RECORDED EXCLUSIVELY BY HIRED PROFESSIONALS.
O – The International Jury reserves the right not to award or offer all announced prizes.
Q – By registering, you, the director, agree to all the terms of this regulation, together with the registered dancers.
R - COPYRIGHT - The responsibility for information about the authors of the songs and choreographies IS NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF PDC, but of the competitor and/or the entity that made the registration.
A – Any omitted cases will be analyzed and judged by the PORTUGAL DANCE COMPETITION organization.
